“Finding, developing, writing, and creating the piece has been a huge adventure and I’ve met so many wonderful people along the way. I’ve listened to and chatted with incredible folk musicians, enjoyed looking at stunning photographs old and new, read eye-witness accounts of modern migration, found and absorbed poems and folk tales from the four corners of Britain, uncovered histories of Welsh and Irish shipping, (more interesting and relevant than expected!), sneaked a peek at articles on working in Northern Irish Linen Mills, watched documentaries on Welsh coal, reconnected with Rob Roy and the Border Reivers of C.17th Scotland, got back into singing with my best ever singing teacher, co-written my first song and more! And that’s all before the most fun part of delving into my own stories and imagination to weave the above together into a clear narrative which will (hopefully) touch an audience and perhaps make them think too.” – Jenn
So many people have supported the project in various ways. Big thanks to Jon Daffydd Kidd for fabulous musical direction and composition. Huge gratitude also to my amazing husband Mike Thompson, Elizabeth & Rodney Kidd, Jane Streeton, Judith & David Thompson, Kath Lucas, Jilly Bond, Sarah Bedi, The Shed and of course to RADA for their incredible support.
